It’s Important To Understand The Value Of Gold Jewellery

How much knowledge do you have about gold and how much valuable it is in your life? Answer surely varies from person to person depending upon need and budget to own it.

Gold excites not only women but also men over centuries. It is the most ductile of all metals; a single gram can be beaten into a sheet of 1 square meter. Gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity and reflects infrared radiation strongly. Chemically, it is unaffected by air, moisture etc and is therefore well suited for use in coins, jewelry and as a protective coating on reactive metals. High quality pure metallic gold is tasteless and scentless, in keeping with its resistance to corrosion.

Some people buy gold for purpose of investment while others purchase this metal which is enhanced and designed in form of jewelleries. Fashion industry with many celebrities and other stars use such jewels to enhance their beauty and status. Long back we have seen that kings, queens and emperors all over the world wore Gold jewellery pieces as necklaces, earrings etc embedded with diamonds, swarovski’s and other gems. Gold Jewellery as a surprise gift for birthday and anniversary, adds magic to the glorious day.

Religion has also played a role, for example in Islam wearing of gold by men is considered as a social taboo. In Christianity, the New Testament gives injunctions against the wearing of gold. In the writings of the apostles Paul and Peter, the Greeks started using gold and gems in jewellery in 1600 BC, although beads shaped as shells and animals were produced widely in earlier times. By 1500 BC, the peoples of the Indus Valley were creating gold earrings and necklaces etc.

Like other precious metals, gold is measured by troy weight and by grams. When it is alloyed with other metals the term karat is used to indicate the purity of gold present, with 24 carats being pure gold which represents its softness. It’s a well known that Gold offered in Singapore in form of jewelry, brick etc is of utmost pure quality and also available at a reasonably low price as compared to other parts of world. People who have experience in understanding the quality of gold, prefer to pick the purest piece and don’t get fooled by others. Gold is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry. Alloys with lower karatage, typically 22k, 18k, 14k or 10k, contain higher percentages of copper, or other base metals or silver or palladium in the alloy. Alternative white gold alloys are also available based on palladium, silver and other white metals, but the palladium alloys are more expensive than those using nickel. High-carat white gold alloys are far more resistant to corrosion than are either pure silver or sterling silver. Chains, rings, earrings, toe rings and many other pieces available in various patterns in market and online stores which help in decorating all parts of body.
